Japanese banks were closed on Tuesday in observance of Vernal Equinox Day.

Japanese stocks were little changed on Monday.

The Nikkei 225 rose 0.12%, or 12.16, to 10,141.99. The broader Topix added 0.19%, or 1.62, to 868.35.

The Ministry of Finance is to announce trade balance for February on Thursday. The difference between exports and imports widened to -0.61 trillion yen in January from -0.57 trillion yen in December.
