US blue chips edged higher on Tuesday on expectations that the ECB and Fed will ease their monetary policies. Eric Rosengren, Boston Fed president, said that the Fed has to embark on fresh asset purchasing program to facilitate economic recovery. Dow Jones Industrial Average Index rose by 0.39% to end Tuesday's session at 13,168.60. The largest gains posted industrial and technology stocks. 3M and Caterpillar added 0.32% and 1.01% while Hewlett-Packard and Intel advanced by 1.44% and 0.72%. Meanwhile, financial stocks also moved up, with Bank of America and American Express rising by 0.39% and 0.95%. Dragging the stock index lower, healthcare and telecommunications sank 1.13% and 0.47%. Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer lost 0.8% and 2.14%. AT&T and Verizon Communications plunged 0.45% and 0.49%.
