German consumer confidence picks up to highest level since 2006

Consumer confidence in Germany climbed to its largest level since December 2006, helped by attractive policies from the ECB and the government. Germans become more upbeat in terms of economic prospects for the country. The GfK Index, based on survey of 2,000 people, jumped to 8.9 points in July of the this year, up from 8.6 in June. Economists, in turn, waited for a decline to 8.5 points.
