USD/CAD: Canadian Retail Sales

The US Dollar depreciated against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian Retail Sales data release on Wednesday at 12:30 GMT. The AUD/USD exchange currency rate lost 34 pips or 0.48% right after the release. The Greenback continued trading at the 1.3440 level against the Canadian Dollar.

Statistics Canada released the Canadian Core Retail Sales data, which came out better-than-expected of 1.7% compared with forecast 0.8%.

According the official release: "Retail sales increased for the second consecutive month, rising 1.1% to $51.3 billion in March. Sales were higher in 7 of 11 subsectors, representing 39% of retail trade. Higher sales at gasoline stations and building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers were the main contributors to the increase."

GBP/USD: UK CPI

The British Pound traded sideways against the US Dollar, following the UK CPI data release on Wednesday at 08:30 GMT. The GBP/USD exchange currency rate lost 10 pips or 0.08% right after the release. The British Pound continued trading at the 1.2670 level against the Greenback.
