Rural commodities apart from sugar moved higher on Monday as weather conditions in the US key growing regions deteriorated.

Wheat advanced by more than 2%, rising for the first time in the last five trading sessions. Brighter demand prospects after Iran reported it plans to import 50,000 MT of wheat spurred the commodity price.

Corn climbed the most in the last two weeks on speculation that dry and hot weather in the US may harm crops. Moreover potential increase in demand added to the positive mood of corn futures.

Sugar approached 21-month low as global economic perspective remains bleak while world supplies continue to grow.

Coffee was marginally higher despite reports that global coffee exports tumbled by 12% in April on an annual basis because of economic weakness of the wealthiest countries.
