The lowest intraday point of USD/CAD was reached mid-Tuesday when the Greenback halted at the 1.2485 mark. From this point, the rate edged higher and dashed through the 200-hour SMA with no apparent hindrance.
The pair's movement during the past four trading sessions reveals the formation of a descending channel. Given that technical indicators are not clear in their message about the rate's possible movement, it is expected that the upper boundary of this minor pattern could be respected, especially when it is restricted by the 55– and 100-hour SMAs and the weekly PP circa 1.2530.
The southern area is supported by the relatively distant weekly S1 at 1.2457 which is located near the lower channel line.
