Dow rises on Monday

The U.S. shares, stayed flat with the Dow Jones Industrial Average slightly increasing 0.1%, or 18.89 points, to 13,507.32. Investors sat on the sidelines, as Chairman Ben Bernake's remarks pointed out that U.S. policy makers might be willing to wend the bond buying program prior to the end of year 2013. Five out of nine groups in the index edged higher. Shares of industrials posted biggest gains, as the group advanced 0.6%. Hewlett-Packard Company shares was the top performer in the benchmark index, as JPMorgan increased its rating on the tech stock and raised the price target from $15 to $21. Furthermore, Cisco systems, the networking manufacturer, climbed 2.34% after Jayson Noland from R.W.Baird raised the company's stock rating from neutral to outperform and price target from $21 to $25. The company capped losses in the worst performing telecommunications sector that was 1.24% down. Boeing, in turn, advanced 1.85%, as the company's spokesman said Boeing would work with its customer and regulatory agencies to understand the causes for a recent fire of its aircraft Dreamliner in Boston's International Airport. Meanwhile, Verizon Communications Inc. declined 1.64% to $42.59, as the company was cut at UBS from buy to neutral due to lower-than-expected profit.
