The Kiwi weakened against the Greenback, following the release of New Zealand's current account report. The NZD/USD currency pair lost three base points, or 0.04%, reaching the 0.7326 level, to continue fluctuating in the 0.7335 area.
Statistics New Zealand revealed on Tuesday that in the Q4 of 2017, the country's current account had recorded a larger-than-expected deficit of 2.77B, following a shortfall of 4.83B in the prior quarter. International Statistics Senior Manager Daria Kwon said that despite the fact that more dairy and logs were exported, both transport equipment and crude oil imports fostered the deficit in the goods in the Q4. The reason for the primary income deficit was the decrease of taxes paid by foreigners.
