Swiss Federal Statistical Office reported on Monday that consumer prices in Switzerland were growing in September. Consumer price index added 0.3% last month, compared to no change in August. The data is in line with expectations, since analysts also expected that Swiss prices would grow by 0.3%.
Swiss consumer prices in September declined 0.4% year-on-year, following a 0.5% decrease in August. Economists projected a 0.6% decline. Prices fell for the twelfth straight month and the latest decrease was the smallest since October last year.
"For the coming months we expect inflation just above zero, possibly even above 1 per cent in early 2013. That's chiefly due to base effects and can hardly be regarded as inflation," said Maxime Botteron at Credit Suisse.
