Retail sales in UK decrease by 1.1% in April

Retail sales in UK decreased by 1.1% in April compared to the same period last year and fell by 2.3% in comparison with March. This is the biggest yearly fall since the August of 2011, when retail sales volume dropped 1.2% compared to August 2010. Retail sales volume grew 0.4%, the slowest pace in 2012, compared to the same period last year. Such results underscored the estimates of specialists who were expecting a 1% increase in sale volumes and state that such results were mainly due to weak automotive fuel sector.

Euro hits the lowest level in 20 months
