European equities head for second weekly loss

European shares swung between gains and losses on Friday as equities were set to record their second weekly decrease amid speculation that lawmakers in the U.S. may not be able to reach an agreement about new debt ceiling and the federal budget. Futures of the benchmark index Euro Stoxx 50 for settlement in October dropped 0.1% to 2,888 as of 7:07 a.m. London time, while the Stoxx Europe 600 has fallen 0.8% this week.
