U.K. shares up for a fourth consecutive day

U.K. shares surged for a fourth straight day with FTSE 100 Index extending its highest level in five years. The FTSE 100 climbed 0.3%, or 26.51 points, to 6,522.83 by 4:34 p.m. in London. Basic materials posted biggest gain among all ten groups in the gauge, as Kazakhmys  Plc rallied 5.8% for the biggest rise on the benchmark FTSE 100. The natural resources company has fallen 9.1% throughout the last four days. Furthermore, International Consolidated Airlines rose 5.1% to lift industrial shares that were 0.2% up. Furthermore, Anfogasta Plc soared 4%, supporting basic materials after the producer of copper doubled its dividend. On the downside, British Land Co that erased 3% and capped gains in financials on news the real estate investment trust released its plans to raise around 500 million pounds in a stock sell off to cover acquisitions and development. Hammerson Plc followed with a 2% slump.

Spain's economy leading index rises for the fifth successive month in January

Spain's economy leading index advanced for the fifth month in a row in January mainly driven by the country's contribution to Euro M2, a survey by the Conference Board showed on Tuesday. A leading economic index added 0.7% on a monthly basis to 105.2 in January after a 0.8% gain in December, while the current situation economic index fell 0.4%

AUD/USD retests the 20-day SMA

During Friday's trading session the pair sharply dropped to the weekly PP level at 1.0209, but today the pair has already regained its position and even surged above the 20-day SMA, which is currently located at 1.0257.
