German stocks traded higher on Friday, as data showed German confidence rose more than expected. The German business climate index advanced from 104.3 in January to 107.4 in February. The DAX index surged as much as 1.03% to close at 7,661.91. All but two sectors in the gauge soared. The telecommunications and utility stocks jumped the most. The latter group was supported by E. ON SE that surged 2.35%. Allianz SE shares added 2.4%, pacing gains in financial sector that was 1.3% higher. Meanwhile, Bayer AG inched 2.4% higher and lifted health care group that added as much as 0.8%. Among top losers were Volkswagen AG to drag down consumer goods group that erased as much as 1.4% and Infineon Technologies that slid 2.7%, adding to losses in technology shares that were 0.11% down.
