Switzerland's trade surplus at record high in 2011

Swiss reported the record high trade balance last year. The trade balance posted a surplus of CHF 23.8 billion in 2011, reflecting 22% increase since 2010. Strong chemical products' trade last year contributed to the increase, said Federal Customs Administration. Over the year, exports increased by 2.1% as compared to a 7.2% jump in 2010 while imports declined by 0.1% as compared to a 8.6% surge in the preceding month.
