U.S. shares closed lower on Tuesday with the benchmark stock index Standard & Poor's snapping its three-day drop and recording the first daily gain since the beginning of 2014 after a data showed a sharp fall in the U.S. trade balance deficit. The S&P 500 Index added 0.61% to 1,837.88, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.64% to 16,530.94 and the Nasdaq Composite Index surged 0.96% to 4,153.182.
