Crude oil continues to surge

On Wednesday, crude oil prices continued to surge, as the price for US Light crude oil reached above the $73.00 level. Since Tuesday, 17:00 GMT, the price had gained more than 4.20%.

Crude oil prices have been surging since August 22. Since that day the price for oil has increased by more than 18.00%. Global market analysts attribute the surge of prices to the drop of oil production output in the United States, which was caused by the recent hurricane and bad weather.

USD strength beats down Gold prices

At mid-day on Wednesday, the price of gold started a decline, which by the middle of Thursday's European trading had extended by more than 3.00% when the commodity price hit the $1,750.00 level. Carrefour is dumped by large holder

At the start of Wednesday's European trading, the stock price for Carrefour dropped by 5.25% or 0.88 EUR. The value was lost due to the French billionaire Bernard Arnault selling the company's stock after being invested for 14 years. Arnault held a 5.7% stake in the company, which by being sold has flooded the market with shares.
