On Wednesday, September 4, the Hong Kong 40 Index raised by 85550 pips or 3.31%.
The reason for the advance is the withdrawal of extradition bill by Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam. The bill triggered violent protests which have occurred for months.
Note that the withdrawal still needs to be approved by the Legislative Council. However, it is expected that the Council will not oppose Lam.
