Japanese equities tumble the most in 8 months

Japanese stocks fell sending the Nikkei 225 Stock Average to its lowest level since May 2012 after the yen appreciated the second straight day. The index slumped even though the Japanese machinery orders, capital spending indicator, rose almost 4% in November 2012. The Nikkei 225 dropped 2.6% to 10,600.44. All sectors in the gauge declined with technology shares losing the most. Tokyo Tatemono Co Ltd fell 5.29% to 412 yen, pacing losses in financial stocks that were 3.26% lower. Pioneer Corp., audio and video equipment manufacturer, lost 5.24% prompting the consumer services sector to decrease 3.07%. Alps Electric Glass erased 5.18% to 476 yen, triggering a 2.72% decline in the industrials group. Meanwhile, among companies that advanced was Hitachi Zosen Corporation, surging 1.56% and capping further decline in the industrials sector. Shinogi & Co Ltd. posted second biggest gain in the gauge as it rose 1.46% to 1,593 yen and halted losses in the health care group that was 1.35% down.

Hong KOng shares decline prior more data on Chinese economy

Hong Kong stocks extended their losses on Wednesday, as investors closed their positions on stocks that outperformed the market such as China's financials prior to more data on the nation's economy at the end of this week. Dow gains on hopes for better economic outlook
