Trade gap of the UK declined in January

The Office for National Statistics reported on Tuesday that British trade deficit of goods narrowed in the first month of the year. The deficit declined to the reading of 8.2 billion Pounds in January, compared to a December's figure of 8.7 billion. Analysts, however, predicted that there will be a growth of trade deficit in January.

‘More effective action is needed to ensure that the considerable untapped potential of many British exporters can be used to drive a sustainable recovery. The government must implement the measures it has already announced to support companies seeking to break into new markets,' said David Kern, the BCC's chief economist.
