U.K. stocks closed in negative territory on Monday after EU agreed on a bailout for Spain.
The benchmark FTSE 100 Index retreated 0.05%, or 2.71 points, to 5,432.37. The FTSE All-Share Index declined 0.09%, or 2.40 points, to 2,819.77.
"The market definitely has more peace of mind now that a compromise has been found that will strengthen the firewall for now," said Christian Zogg, a fund manager at LLB Asset Management in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.
"However, the mood could very well tip over next weekend, depending on the election outcome in Greece."
