Swiss Economy Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann said he is satisfied with the franc's cap versus the euro and expressed confidence the central bank would defend the policy.
"I am satisfied that this limit exists," Schneider-Ammann told. "I am very confident and convinced that the national bank will in fact defend the limit as it has said it would."
Swiss stocks edged lower on Thursday.
The Swiss blue-chip index SMI, a measure of the largest and most actively traded companies, fell 0.18%, or 11.09 points, to 6,097.68. The broader Swiss Performance Index retreated 0.11%, or 6.30 points, to 5,701.96.
