The Australian Dollar appreciated against the US Dollar, following the Australian GDP data release on Wednesday at 01:30 GMT. The AUD/USD exchange currency rate gained 15 pips or 0.23% right after the release. The Aussie continued trading at the 0.6780 level against the Greenback.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics released the Australian GDP data, which came out in line with the expectations of 0.5%.
Bruce Hockman, the Chief Economist of the ABS said: "The external sector drove GDP growth this quarter, while growth in the domestic economy remains steady. Strength in mining related activity was seen across a number of measures in the economy."
