U.S. consumer prices increased above economists' expectations in February mainly due to a steep growth of energy prices, the Labor Department showed in a report on Friday. The report said the consumer price index grew by 0.7% in February staying at the same level as in the two previous months, while the core consumer price index jumped 0.2% in February following a 0.3% gain the prior month.
