During the four-month transition window from September through December 2026, ADAC's approximately 22 million members can claim discounts at both Shell and Esso stations simultaneously. The switch results in a slightly smaller partner footprint, as Esso maintains around 1,100 locations across Germany compared to Shell's network of roughly 1,900 stations. Shell is concluding the collaboration to prioritize the expansion of its proprietary loyalty ecosystem, the Shell ClubSmart Program, while ADAC's existing fuel agreement with Agip/Eni remains active.

Germany's major automobile club, ADAC, is ending its 20-year fuel discount partnership with Shell on December 31, 2026. Taking Shell's place, Esso Deutschland will step in as the new core partner starting September 1, 2026. The transition introduces an initial promotional discount of 2 cents per liter at Esso filling stations through October 15, 2026, after which the benefit will stabilize at the standard rate of 1 cent off per liter. ADAC members simply present their membership card at checkout to receive the instant reduction, requiring no additional sign-ups or app downloads.
