The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index advanced by 0.77% to close at 13,157.97 on Friday. The US blue chips were lifted by Ben Bernanke's comments regarding room for further action. Traders interpreted the comment as a sign that the Fed is likely to ease its monetary policy soon. All industries within the index rose. The best-performers were telecommunications and financials. Verizon Communications and AT&T jumped by 2.18% and 1.07% while Bank of America and American Express gained 0.12% and 1.90%. Oil and gas companies also moved higher despite speculation that IEA will release oil reserves as soon as in September. Chevron and Exxon Mobile added 0.65% and 0.85%. Meanwhile, technology firms surged 0.80%. Cisco Systems and Intel soared 0.47% and 1.09%.
