Being a banker is a vocation– it can be a message sent by the BoE Carney and IMF's Chief Lagarde. They both let fire on the global financial sector by saying there is a delay in much-needed reforms, hence, growing risks are destabilising the global economy. During the conference in London Lagarde claimed that progress on building a safer financial sector had been extremely slowed, mostly due to delay in introducing tougher new rules. She also warned that since the financial crisis the industry has not changed fundamentally and there is no room for complacency.
Her comments were echoed by the Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, who pointed out the growing inequality and recent issues of corruption that all damaged the social fabric. In order to make capitalism more inclusive and return faith in the banking sector, bankers and politicians should implement financial reforms and focus on rebuilding of social capital. Despite remarks regarding the financial sector, Carney tried to comment Janet Yellen's words, by saying the central bank has been implementing a range of policies to stimulate and then secure the economic recovery. The last but not least, Carney admitted that stimulus programme has been beneficial for borrowers at the expense of savers. Does it mean, the central bank will start tapering it soon?
