The US Dollar depreciated against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian CPI release on Wednesday at 12:30 GMT. The USD/CAD exchange currency rate lost 22 pips or 0.15% after the release. The Canadian Dollar continued trading at the 1.4380 level against the Greenback after the release.
Statistics Canada released the Canadian CPI data, which came out in line with the expectations of 0.4%.
According to the official release: "Statistics Canada is closely monitoring possible impacts of the novel coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) on Canada's Consumer Price Index (CPI). In February, several flights were suspended indefinitely in an effort to contain COVID-19. Although February airfares were collected prior to the suspension of flights, these prices were excluded from the CPI because passengers were ultimately unable to take these flights."
