Hi, I get the FX Marketplace box, it accepts the login and password, gives message "connecting to Dukascopy Platform", but sits there for hours without loading. I've tried several attempts with the same results. Its version 2.12.2.
Thanks

I am having this problem now. I did have Java 7 7both 64bit and 32 bit installed so I tried deleting all cache files stored and check windows temp folder to make sure they were deleted. This did not work for me. So I tried uninstalling all versions of Java and installing Java v6 update 31 from the URL linked from Dukascopy. This also fails.

Now where am I left?

Please advise what I am to do to fix this. All Java does is sit there and make my computer really slow and unresponsive. As soon as I enter my login details and try to login it crashes shortly after. Really annoying and disappointing this is still happening. I have tried everything I can think of short of a clean install of windows and it is actually less than a week old install of windows 7 x64 on a new computer!

Hi LFX:

I'm running JForex with Java 7 64b without great problems...

Can you see if you have errors in java console ?
With only that information is hard to know what is happening.

If you don't know how to see java console or see the java logs, you can find info about it in Dukascopy wiki or you can read my articles about JForex troubleshouting in Article Contest.

Best regards

Trade well and good luck

Hi jlongo, thanks so much for helping me out, would have responded sooner had I expected such a prompt post here :D

Here is a copy of text from the Java console when I try to login. As soon as it reaches warning: it freezes and does nothing more other than slow my system down until I kill the process. I've deleted some IP address for privacy and security for both Dukascopy and me.

Hi LFX

Everything seems normal, it's what usually we get in console at startup of JForex...

Memory usage too big ??? CPU processing at high values ??? Javaws process ???
You need to see log contents after the crash if JForex crashs... Maybe the console closes at JForex crash, but you can activate automatic generation of the logs (don't need console, just to know where they are) and see what happens after that lines.

You can see however, if you have a firewall/antivirus/router blocking port 10443 (you may disable just for testing) or if you try to start JForex with a old jnlp file, get a last one and try again.

Also, java cache files don't are in windows temp dirs... to clear, just open Start->Run and writte "javaws -clearcache -uninstall" without quotes.

Best regards

Trade well and good luck

JL

Thanks again. Yes I meant in the AppData folder. I used Java to clean the temp files but made sure the folder was emptied out and one time it wasn't so I used CCleaner and that helped. The folder then emptied.

No high CPU or RAM use that is noticeable with any open process when this halts. That is the oddest thing with it really, and it is not like a normal hung program would be. I've had programs that fail yo terminate before now and only a reboot fixes that usually, not even task manager or force kill command. But when I launch the FX Marketplace Platform window (java app) it is alright until I click login then it will start to process the details and after about 5 seconds it freezes and does no more, the loading progress bar is frozen still by this time. Sometimes both windows are open the small FX Marketplace Platform window login window and what would be the JFOREX window, but I am unable to open or switch to the Jforex window and it has not loaded, the windows peek shows nothing since I cannot switch to it.

RAM use if below 4GB/16GB and CPU use is very low if anything. Around 98% idle. At the actual point when this freezes my windows RAM use is 3.42 and CPU at 14% with the javaw.exe (32bit Javav6) process using 11% RAM & 122MB. I just noticed a weird thing, in task manage process setup.exe started and then ended as this froze. The process was chrome - the web browser, no idea if this is anything to do with this. And for the life of me I can't think what could be causing this. I haven't made any significant changes to my system at all and only had JFOREX working last night.

I will troubleshoot this some more and find out where those log files are saved. I already set java to log them.

PS> I also tried disabling my firewall, AV and any other security, to no avail. Would booting into windows in clean boot help at all?

So, I tired to make a quick fix by deleting all temp files again and this time I opened up AppData folder and deleted the Jforex folder [all 758MB of it] and that made no difference either. Is there any other way to uninstall all traces of Jforex?

If there is anything else at all that I could try. I might try a system restore [nt sure if that would do it] next if there is nothing else.

Also I doubt the chrome update is anything, I think it auto updates on the dev version.

Edit: the only difference now with Jforex, is that it is now showing me the Jforex platform window(s), only it is completely white and blank. The usual SWFX Splash does not show when loading. So both login window and blank white windows is now visible. Taskbar is now more responsive after leaving the Java window open for a few mins. These changes are since I deleted the old JForex folders. Quite a lot of outbound connections, roughly 80+ from Javaw.exe

Hi LFX:

Weird problem... maybe nothing to do with java... you don't have any problems with other heavy programs ? You can run other java programs without problems ?
It's strange the beavior of that setup.exe. [Edit] maybe this is one update of Chrome, i have it here too until it's updated.
Some new virus/spyware ?

Nothing to do with chrome, as JForex runs outside of it.
Try doing a restore point to a earlier date before you have problems.
Try with a new created user in W7. Try in a Virtual Machine (VirtualBox, WMware, VirtualPC...)

I don't understand what you mean by clean boot. You can also try to boot with a liveCD with linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSuse, Mint, etc) and start JForex there.

Other possibility, is some harware problem (memory/cpu/board), if you have the knowledge to it, try to remove the dimms of the slots, work only with half of them (i supose you have 4 or 2) to check harware memory problems, also cpu/board temperature may cause breaks (do this only if your computer have strange breaks with other programs and you know what to do).

I'm running out of ideias

Hope that can help.

Best regards

Trade well and good luck

JL

Weird it is: I just wish I knew how to fix this. I will try installing Windows 7 in a virtual machine.

Clean Boot: as in diagnostic startup in windows, where services and startup programs are all disabled until you gradually select ones that are not causing problems until you fond the one(s) that do. I tried that it didn't help, I also tried a system restore and made no difference either. I am guessing a virtual machine will be a good test, either that or another OS altogether, but to be honest this is a hassle I can do without. And I rarely ever use anything Java anyway, only websites that might need it. So it seems like a whole lot of effort for nothing. Although I do want to trade with Dukascopy.

When Java is running my system is snail pace. It almost halts. And like some programs exhibit memory leaks windows become choppy, when I terminate the Java process(s) windows if fine again and everything runs lightning speed. I've not changed anything with it to make it do this.

I don't see any hardware problems here. Its a brand new system and no other software has any problems for me. I have hardware monitoring software and motherboard and CPU as well as RAM all is a ok. I made a little video of this but it doesn't really do it justice and I doubt it would help prove anything. I wish I could find a tutorial on how to clean Java out of my system completely. Not just uninstall but all traces, like registry values, everything!

It was working fine the other day. In Java control panel /config for default browsers the Mozilla family checkbox does not stay checked. Eitherway though I have Firefox to enable Java but when I run the test on Java site with Java 1.6 (6 - update 31) installed. It slows down my computer when doing it but when looking at task manager CPU and RAM use is fairly low. Can be 122MB use on average and with Java 7 it did go up over 1GB once but that was while trying to login to Dukascopy JForex and it is the only one time I have seen that happen.

I'll update later on the virtual machine...whether it works or not. Windows is running great for me though...as are all programs but Java...

With Java 1.6 update 31 when running the online Java test on java.com it says I do not have Java installed or that there is a problem with the installation, sometimes though it just makes my HDD make noise but I can't see any IO Bytes being used, about 120-250MB RAM use though. And things slow down even though resource use is not heavy for this system. Never had a problem like this before.

Thanks!

Hi LFX:

Let's wait to see what Dukascopy support says...

Without see whats happening i can't give you more help. Staying in front of system it's the easyest way. The only way i see to determine if is a software problem is try to run in a virtual machine with a clean install to avoid to have to reinstall W7 for nothing or running it booting with a livecd.

Best regards

Trade well and good luck (soon i hope)

Thanks for helping out. I read numerous similar issues I came across online and it seems this problem is difficult to pin down a cause for. So I did what many others do, a clean install of windows and everything is now fine. I am not sure why Java had this problem, it is like nothing I've had before and I doubt I would be able to have fixed it without support from Oracle themselves and I don't think they provide that. I read about someone tha thad a similar problem that cleaned all registry traces of Java and that did not fix it.

I think I made the best choice and didn't have much to reinstall with it being a less than week old installation as it was.

I look forward to continued use of JForex and anticipate its future improvements.
