Hi
We love the new charting features in JForex4 demo, but Renko charting, which was reasonably stable before the upgrade, has become very flaky to the point of being unusable.
It's hard to be specific because we are mainly seeing general random weirdness.
The most common problem is that the chart display corrupts when we set the chart to Auto Shift, and it doesn't always redraw correctly on refresh. To recover we have to close the tab and set up the chart again. Sometimes the only way to get to the rightmost bars is to scroll by hand, as Auto Shift consistently corrupts the chart.
The second most common problem is that the price line moves well outside the current bar - we're talking about 10+ bars. This corrects on refresh, provided the refresh works at all.
Beyond that, we've had the toolbar start to flicker and become inaccessible, the chart go blank or freeze during loading, when we refresh it can take us to a random date many days past and the Auto Shift won't take us back to the current price, the refresh button can grey out, all the most recent chart data gets compressed into a narrow line near the vertical center of the screen, and so on...
We are quite hard on charts - we run a number of MAs at once - but the chart should surely be able to handle that on well-specified workstations? Our setup worked fine before the upgrade, apart from the occasional freeze. We've seen these new issues on Win 7 and Win 8 on 4 different machines with different graphics cards etc, so we don't think it's a hardware issue.
Please don't deploy to live till you have sorted this, as we won't be able to trade...

Hi guys
We'd really appreciate some feedback about this. There's a group of us trading with Renko, and our business will be in trouble if you don't fix these issues before you deploy to live.
Thanks!

By the way, we've noticed that the problems seem to be worst on 3 pip Renko - other settings seem more reliable. Strange but true. Unfortunately, this is the setting we trade...

Hi It's somewhat demoralising to report a bug that would put us out of business and find that our requests for an update on its status are being ignored. Experience shows that most of the problems occur when we're viewing the right hand edge of the chart, rather than historical data well to the left of the leading edge. I'm enclosing a screenshot of a price-line that became completely detached from the Renko, which of course should never happen, and started producing tiny garbage bars, which are outlined in green. The second screenshot is similar, but with the price-line in the correct place. Again, small garbage bars are produced which are evaluated by the SMA indicator, which flatlines. I've also enclosed a shot of a chart spitting out garbage bars with no relation at all to the actual price action (the market was quiet). I've got a video of this, but your BB won't let me upload it. The bars were forming at the kind of speed you see in extreme news, or on a tick chart. We would VERY MUCH APPRECIATE your assurances that you won't go live with the upgrade till this has been sorted out. Otherwise our whole group will have to cease trading, as we have said before.

Another variation of the bug - this time the right hand margin setting is being ignored and bars are being formed to the right of it.

Another bug... Chart corrupts so we press refresh. Chart sticks in reload mode (status bar indicates connection is OK). Toolbar locks and flickers. Only way out is to close the tab. Hopefully you're beginning to understand why we are so apprehensive, when so many bugs have made it into what is presumably a candidate release. There are not isolated bugs - we are seeing them many times a day...

We are investigating this. Unfortunately, this seems to be hard to repeat on our end.
What Login name do you use on DEMO? What are the Renko calculation settings?

Hi
I guess the problem with replication will be that the issues are intermittent. Sometimes we get a few hours without bugs, and sometimes the charts are almost unusable. I'll try and find a repeatable sequence that leads to chart corruption and post if I find something.
Meanwhile here's everything I can think of to help you track this down:
1) Accounts & hardware: we're seeing the same issues in demo accounts with Atom8 and Dukas. There are 3 of us using 3 different accounts and 6 different PCs and laptops with Win 7 & 8. Same problems on all platforms. We always clear the Java cache before launching.
2) Settings: the Renko calculation settings are the defaults: session length = ticks & base period = 1 week. I've enclosed screenshots of out other settings.
3) Version: We're currently running 2.45.8.
4) We all have the impression that things are worse on 3 pip Renko, though we don't have stats to prove this. With the previous Renko engine, I also felt that I experienced more strangeness on uneven sized bars such as 3 or 5 pips than on even bars such as 4 or 6 pips. Just a thought...

PS - the BB barfed when I tried to upload 3 screenshots of our preferences, saying "The attachment quota has been reached".
If you want to know about any other settings, please just ask...
