Hi Guys, When running an optimization - I am finding jforex crash. I have managed to get a screenshot of the java console - however it freezes also (so I cant scroll). Here are some screenshots: My system is an i7 @ 3.8Gz / 6gb Ram with a SSD hdd - so I dont think its a speed or ram issue. But maybe something with java. Any Ideas? Also if you want me to post the system im running - I can private message it (as it is not my system I am working on). Thanks in advance DoCZero

Have you tried those that you must always try 1st in case of issues with the Historical Tester? Clear platform cache, clear java cache, etc.? Have you testing a new feature in your startegy? . Or is it something that worked fine before? Are you running the tester within a Demo or Live account? It is now weekend and sometimes the Demo platform is not available at all... Edit: the Demo platform got a new build (2.9.4.1) on Friday, so there was some change indeed...

HI, Thanks for the reply.
I have cleared platform and java cache.
In terms of testing a new feature in the strategy - the strategy is basic (however 2 calculation expressions). It was built from VJF and compiled from code generated.
The tester is on my Demo account - I can test in live if you think it would make a difference.
Any update from support?

Hi, I don't think so now it is necessary to test on the Live account. My idea was that at the weekend the Demo platform is no always available, so maybe that caused the issue. But if you still have problems today (Monday), no need to test. The logfile you have provided is not really telling me anything, unfortunately. Let's hope Support can shad some light into the darkness... . By the way, the first screenshot that you have provided contained exception about java heap (with references to tedstrategyV6.java:183), however the logfile contains nothing about java heap, nor this particular strategy (tedstrategyV6.java). I don't know if this makes any sense, I am just thinking out loud, till Support is replying. Was this strategy working before fine? Or is this a new, never tested strategy? Also what could come handy, if you could provide this strategy that causes the issue, together with the setting of you Historical Tester. This is normally the first thing Support asks in case of issues with the Tester, so let's be proactive here . Sorry about not being 'really' helpful.

DoCZero Hi Tscabina - The system is not my idea - I have only built it for someone. So not really mine to post in an open area. When Dukascopy support checks in - I will PM it to them. Cheers DoCZero

OK - so some more info.
If the optimization is one variable - and maybe upto 50 Pass, there is no issue. When I make it multiple variables, maybe over 100 passes - thats when the issues happen.
Is this due to a memory leak or something like that in the platform?
Cheers
DoC

Quote: Is this due to a memory leak or something like that in the platform? Most probably. As there were Out.Of.Memory exceptions on the screenshot you have posted. I can only suggest what you already discovered: run the tests with less iteration. And wait for Support to catch up with the case, as this (Out.Of.Memory) should not happen...

Running 50 pases means running 50 tests at the same time. You might indeed run out of memory as the max heap size set for the platform is 512 MB. You can try increasing it if you believe it is worth proceeding with such optimization test. It is not possible to increase the max heap size in the platform interface, so a little hack is neccessary. Open the .jnlp file you download to launch the platform. Edit the row: <java version="1.6+" initial-heap-size="32m" max-heap-size="512m"/> to e.g. 1GB <java version="1.6+" initial-heap-size="32m" max-heap-size="1024m"/> Save it and launch.
You might need to download new .jnlp and repeat the steps in case there is a new plaform version deployed and you get "Unable to launch" error.
