Context:
i want to receive the complete history for a given symbol in order to store the data in my own sql db and further analyze it with 3rd party software

Basically i use

List<IBar> bars = history.getBars(
                    instrument,
                    period,
                    offerSide,
                    Filter.NO_FILTER,
                    MAX_BARS_ALLOWED,
                    lastFullBarTime,
                    0);

In order to receive the history from the server. My problem is that i dont know the depth of the history in question and brute force is certainly not an appropriate method..

Also, the code throws exceptions that i dont know where to catch. E.g.:

ERROR FeedDataHistoryFirstTimesManager - Request for first feed data times timed out
com.dukascopy.charts.data.datacache.DataCacheException: Request for first feed data times timed out

Could someone please enlighten me about the proper way to receive the full history for a given symbol.
