Post subject:  Calculating RSI Indicator values

Hi

I am puzzled about the above calculation.................

I have setup a simple excel spreadsheet to do the calculation but the results seem way different to the results I see on a chart

I am looking at the EUR/USD hourly figures for the end of December 2022

The formula I am using is RSI = 100 - ((1 + (average gain / average loss))) where avg gain and avg loss is over 14 hour period

In the last column I have noted the last few actual values I see from an hourly EUR/USD chart with the RSI Indicator

Why is there such a large difference between what I am calculating and what I see on the chart

Cheers
Bob M

Hello!

I kindly wanted to draw your attention to the fact that strategy works with GMT by default.
There is a popular problem when users use different parameters assigned to "Time zone" and "Day Start Time". (Settings -> Preferences -> General).
You can learn the difference between "Time zone" and "Day Start Time" here:
https://www.dukascopy.com/wiki/en/manua ... e-settings

Please make sure that in your platform you use also GMT for these parameters.

I do not recommend you to change time zone in strategy, but you can do it as described here:
https://www.dukascopy.com/wiki/en/devel ... -date-time
Javadoc:
https://www.dukascopy.com/client/javado ... eZone.html

Kind regards,
