Hi There,
I've been working on a trading system for sometime based around the ADX. I use a couple of other indicators as well, but am in need of a Linear Regression Channel with 3 Standard Deviations for JForex. Wondering if any talented folk out there are capable of coding this, or perhaps someone already knows of one. The other indicator I need is an altered EMA Envelopes, where a multiple of the ATR is used for the envelope bands instead of the traditional percentage method.
Currently I am having to use MT4 for my analysis(as these indicators are available) and JForex for my trading. It's really not that big a deal, but there does seem to be some inconsistency in the data feeds between the two, and I imagine even more so in a live account.
Any help here would be most greatly appreciated.

Hi
I can code it for you for a fee. All I need is the C or C++ code or MQL4 correspondent where you have this coded.
Thank you Best regards cyberalgo

Hi cyberalgo, Thanks for your response. I have included the MQL4 indicators I'm using for you to check out. I do currently have a workaround at the moment in which I just draw the appropriate lines on the chart in Jforex, and update them as necessary. Let me know what kind of fee you have in mind. Cheers fifty_fifty

Hi Cyberalgo,
That is brilliant!!! Exactly what I was after, many thanks! I also use 10 period as well as 20, and I am unable to change this in the indi you posted. I have attached the 10 period version as well, or if you are willing to share the code it would be awesome, and perhaps give me a starting point as far as my own future coding attempts!
Thanks again for your generosity! Cheers, fifty_fifty

Hey fifty_fifty,
Thanks for your superb reply and glad I could help. Quality matters for me. I have now adapted the indicator's optional inputs with the minimum and maximum ranges and default values below. Default values are the ones you had in the original mql4 file. I picked minimum two because that is the minimum time periods the indicator needs to calculate an average. The maximum value I picked such that higher values would make lines fall outside of the chart and probably won't make sense for technical analysis. Next are the optional inputs values:
EMA has default 1000 and ranges from 2 to 5000 with increment of 100 units ATR has default 20 and ranges from 2 to 1000 with increment of 10 units Multiplicative factor has default 2.5 and ranges from 0 to 100 with increment of 0.1 units
As far as the code it took me some time to code it and I would need to charge for it to release the source code to you. I have a price in mind and a way of payment but perhaps this is not the right place to discuss it.

Hi again Cyber, Just tested the updated version and couldn't be happier. Also checked out your blogspot, and looks very interesting. I'll come by and have a closer look sometime soon. I have a good workaround for the Linear Regression Channel, so no need to worry about that. You've already done plenty to help me out! Thanks! fifty_fifty

No worries but I am planning to code the second one too for my own. The linear regression channel indicator is often used by institutions which makes it an interesting one. Most probably I will post it here too sometime and you may stop using workarounds;-).

Be my guest! I just recently started using LR Channel, mainly for picking points where a retrace is unlikely to penetrate. eg recently USDSEK hit +3rd STDDEV line in longterm downtrend on the H4 chart at approx 6.5000. You can see from the attached pic what happened next. Obviously moves of this type aren't always going to occur, and the lines also change with more data. Thinking maybe the LR indicator in Jforex may be a more useful starting point for a channel indicator as it is not a straight line, and rather shows the actual movement. Interested to hear any thoughts you may have on this.
cheers, fifty_fifty

No worries and my pleasure. My thoughts it all depends.. honestly I am suspicious about all technical indicators because they are all laggers meaning that when you get the buy or sell signal the "real thing" or action has already occurred. But the LR Channel may be classified into another type than a technical indicator as it is a well known mathematical regression method used in other fields of science and commonly used for data analysis so if you comfortable and observe a particular setup that is likely to give you an edge hey!! who am I!? to say not use it!! I do not shut my window and keep it open on technical indicators. But I am more in favor of algorithms that use technical indicators and other methods in an unconventional manner or non-orthodox way. Additionally I tend to prefer technical indicators such as volume weighted average price (vwap) and other institutional.

Hello fifty_fifty!
Please find hereby the last of two indicators Linear regression channel indicator (LR Channel). Next are the lines the LR Channel draws: the main line, 1st STDDEV, 2nd STDDEV, 3rd STDDEV high and low.
I have also attached a snapshot of the LR Channel results on the USDSEK instrument the same you posted from the mql4 platform.
The results are equivalent to the mql4 but please check it for yourself and let me know if you find any issues.
Now you have both indicators and wish you the best of success!!
Best regards, cyberalgo[rythms]

Hello Cyberalgo,
Excuse me to disturbe you. I saw your posts about linear regression and I tought about asking you if you could code me a simple strategy based on the TSF indicator and Linear Regression. I just dont know how jforex calculates if they are in uptrend or downtrend because you can change colors. The strategy could be based in two or tree TSF or Linear Regression in consensus to make a buy (if all are upslopping) or a sell if all are downslopping.
You think its possible?
It could be filtered by CCI if above 0 just buys, if below 0 only sells.
Maybe it could also be a indicator summing all this information and plotting a up or down arrow.
Could you please help me?
Thank You

Hello Cyberalgo, Can you provide the code in .Java? I want to use as Keltner channel which ATR, and to change the price and MA mode. Thank you.
Reviewing the code in metatrader, the indicator ATR is a bit "special", I had to redo it as jforex. Because to optimize in JForex is very slow.
