Post subject:  EET time - bar begin time error

Hello support,

I set in platform several days ago time UTC + 2 (= EET). Today I found 4 hours and day bar error. Right 4 hours starts at 0, 4, 8, .. hours, but today starts at 23, 3, 7, 11. Day bar today starts at 23 hour.

Bars from last week and older starts well.

Support, please repair it.

Thank you.

This is a problem for 1, 2 or 3 weeks twice a year due to Daylight Saving Time (DST). America (EDT zone) has switched to summer time already, but Europe (EET) has not yet. Dukascopy opens the market 1 hour earlier than the midnight in EET zone, so we start the day calculation according to EDT switch when Day Start Time zone is set EET in Preferences.
If we would switch according to EET DST switch, there would be 1 hour left in Sunday (6 days with market opened in week) which would cause the indicators like Pivot points (calculated on Daily period) include it in the calculations. As a result the pivot levels shown in Monday would be those of Sunday, not Friday.

We think its is better to avoid 6 days a week and live with this. What do you think?

I think it is better use bars "standard" time - no any shift.

You could add another bar begin time to your options list: NY 17:00 and then EET begin time can be left true to its real timezone.

In that way time shift due to DST differences between Europe an USA will be automatically solved using begin time=NY 17:00.

Users wanting 5 bars a week will use NY 17:00 and users who want to have true EET can have it even if there are 6 bars a week some times in the year.

We have EDT as an option for Day start time setting. However, this results in 6 days every week, as Dukascopy opens the markets in EET zone usually. Except those few weeks.

Thanks for your answer:

You have another option for Day Start Time: EST (UTC + 10)

Is this option following the American Daylight Saving Time or the European one?

Cheers

Francisco

All of the time zones available for Day Start time are adjusted according to EDT DST shift schedule.

Hello: How the current design of EET timezone affects crypto trading that plays 24/7?
