Hi I was wondering how I could build my own candles, say I want a candle of 30sec or 13min, how could I do this in vsual jforex? These are not available as standard.

Hi,

There is an example in the User Guide (section 7.7) handling tick bars, you can have an idea about how such logic is implemented. For custom candles, you can work with the same logic but instead of Tick start point select Candle start then use 1mn as default period then add your counter which should increment till 13 (for 13mn candle period)
The method of retrieving OHLC is the same as described in the document
The user guide is available form VJF platform under Help menu

Thanks; the method you suggested is simple and works well. Partly why I asked the original question was also to understand in detail how the "onCandle" method works. Say I used ticks (instead of the suggested onCandle), how could I construct time period candles when using ticks? Ideally, I would like to be able to select an arbitrary period of time to retrieve an arbitrary number of ticks from? For example, one tick every minute; or ten ticks every thirteen seconds etc.

Hi,

To build a custom candle period based on tick method you have to catch the tick time, set your start time, then add the specific period you wish then retrieve the data you need from this range of price.
Attached an example with some notes.
Hope this helps.
