I know that JForex has a background thread which
downloads tick and bar data.

But on a low-bandwidth connection like a cellphone
network service, it would be nice on the Advanced
Tab if there could be a checkbox which limits
downloading to ONLY ticks and bars which are
immediately needed.

"Disable background loading of unnecessary data."

So historical downloads of tick/bar data would not
occur when this features was inhibited, unless
they were immediately required for an indicator
or chart or strategy data feed.
