Hi, does the calculation expression functionality include all Excel functions. If not, do you have a list of excel functions that are used? If not, does the functionality include RAND() and RANDBETWEEN()? Thanks.

Hi,

The list of the operations are available in here:

But the mentioned function doesn't exist, could you please describe the way you want to use it ? Maybe there would be a workaround...

Thanks

Thanks it's more to check the randomness of certain prices with a randomly generated number over the same range. On a related point about functionality is it possible to tell us what new functionality is being developed for visual jForex. It's good to know what's in the pipeline. Thanks

Hi,

As of the overall scope, we're planning to simplify the use of the platform through the implementation of new blocks, also, new indicators will be added this is done upon user requests.
You're welcome to suggest any request in this regards or give us your opinion about the software.

Regarding your RAND function, I've made a basic example that could help but indeed it requires fine-tuning to meet your specific requirement. Let me know if you need any help.

Cheers

thanks for your help. In return, I have some comments on the software.

I've programmed quite a bit in mql, but I don't know java, so I started to learn it. Before going too far, I thought I'd give visual JF a try, and I have to say I was
skeptical that it could do much that was sophisticated. Obviously there are limits that might require fine-tuning with custom java code added in. But I have to stay
I was impressed by what could be done with VJF. It doesn't take long at all to get going. I also think it has enormous potential and if exploited fully it could completely
expand the customer base with Dukascopy. I think I can say this with a bit of confidence as I design information tools for inexperienced users. From what I can see though, there are some basic but important things missing. It could really attract the programming novice with better hand-holding in the early stages. By that I mean, I couldn''t find any good reference manual that pulls all the key information together. I had to really hunt round for basic information in videos and blogs. It takes time to find the rightr video and it's not clear that the key information sought is in there. So there's a lot of hit and miss. And I can see that as a real deterrent for the novice. What would work? An e-book that explains each block in detail (much more than the drop down info boxes in the blocks). It would also contain descriptive flow charts showing the logic of basic strategies. Thes flow examples would then be shown in the form of VJF blocks. The examples would show how to trade within certain timeframes,
how to do trailing stops, how to ensure multiple trades aren't opened (if single trade only is required), how to re-submit orders if order fails (say with 200 millisec intervals). I could go on easily. But the point is that although there is much information - it is scattered. For many like myself, I can work my way round, but like I implied, VJF could really be the tool to tap into many the real novice in a big way, but without something that brings it together - and with practical tips for common problems - I don't think it will come close to achieving that potential. But for me, I really like it, although I haven't yet tried it live yet, so that will be the biggest test. Anyway thanks again for your help and you can be sure that I'll have more questions!
