1.0 Introduction
Last month, April, was wonderful for me because I made excellent EUR/USD position gain. I am short time trader. Long trade setup can be created only using detail analysis. In this article I will try to show you my strategy and several steps which we can use in analysis process. The best approach is to use several analysis and different angles as we can see in Diagram. Fundamental analysis will be not part of this article.

2.0 SWFX Sentiment Index analysis
Dukascopy SWFX Sentiment Index show long and short ratio for major forex pairs. On one side we have liquidity consumers (non banks traders such as brokers and individual clients) and on the other liquidity providers (banks and centralized marketplaces). In my opinion, liquidity consumers are mostly on right side. They follow major trend. Consumers (short time traders) very often "sell into rallies and buy into declines" and they follow short time trend. In Figure 1 we can see current Consumer SWFX Sentiment Index and in Figure 2 we can see current SWFX Providers Sentiment Index.

Us Dollar Macro and Technical View 1/6

Fundamentals Technicals Volatility Macro Bullish Monetary Policy Interest Rates Us Dollar Imf
The US Dollar has been on the spotlight since beginning of the year as momentum has surprised everyone. Retracements continue to be shallow. The dollar bullish trend is well mature on its own and I thought it's the perfect time to reinforce my view on the dollar as many are asking: what's next for the US Dollar?
This is the US dollar's fastest rise in 40 years, and it's up 14% on this year alone, and I was one of the few to speak about the dollar rally, even before the trend to be put in motion.
Explaining the dollar's incredible turnaround, at current speed and velocity is not quite hard to explain if you have been following my articles. There are plenty of evidences, from my side, as I was preparing for this kind of move. To understand better what it's happening with the dollar i'll suggest to go over and re-read my previous articles here:

THE HOLY GRAIL OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
INTRODUCTION
creating software that comes close to mimicking human intelligence remains far off. But strides have being made in machine learning software that can gain abilities from experience. Companies in sectors from biotech to computing turned to these new techniques to solve tough problems or develop new products. The most striking research results in AI came from the field of deep learning, which involves using crude simulated neurons to process data.
Work in deep learning often focuses on images, which are easy for humans to understand but very difficult for software to decipher. However, the most advanced machine learning software must be trained with large data sets, something that is very energy intensive, even for companies with sophisticated infrastructure.
That’s motivating work on a new type of “neuromorphic” chips modeled loosely on ideas from neuroscience. Those chips can run machine learning algorithms more efficiently. That is the hope of an increasing number of investors who are turning to the science of artificial intelligence to make investment decisions. With artificial intelligence, programmers don't just set up compu…

WHY TRADING WITH AUTOMATED STRATEGY WORKS ?
Automated forex trading systems use the latest technology to simplify navigation of the forex market. These systems are made up of sophisticated computer software that uses mathematical algorithms to analyze the right times to buy and sell currency. These programs also make the process even easier by conducting the trades for you.
Trusting a machine to make choices when large sums of money are at stake may sound like a bad idea, but automated forex trading can actually work better than trading handled by a human. People frequently make mistakes such as math errors, misreading charts, or simply failing to look at all the factors involved.Another common human complication comes from our susceptibility to emotions. Frequently people allow emotions to get in the way of their better judgment, and this can lead to lost money in the forex market.
Using an automated forex trading system eliminates these problems and improves your results by keeping track of all the available data and making the best decisions. Online trading with a automated strategy can streamline the entire trading process.
Traditional trading methods require an individual to…

Trade Management 7/32
Posted 15 Apr by P3tr4 Ranking
Strategy Contest Visual Jforex Smart Strategy Dynamic Trader

There are two ways in which a trade can be managed by a strategy; the first option is to use fixed settings, while the other alternative is to use a dynamic approach.
 1. Fixed settings: With this option, the strategy uses the trading algorithm to execute a trade and sets the Take Profit (Target price) and Stop Loss prices. After the trade has been opened, the strategy does carry out any other modification on the trade. So the trade can only close at the Take Profit price or at the Stop Loss price.
 2. Dynamic Approach: On the other hand, using a dynamic approach to trade management, involves programming the strategy to constantly monitor the open position, and make modifications based on changes in the market.
A lot of people are very skeptical about using an automated trading software; this is because of the general belief that a trading software does not possess a Human's trading Intuition. An example of this is in studying price consolidation; I have attached a market chart to explain this point.
Most traders know that after a market trend, it is not unusual for price to consolidate. And after price consolidation, the market may either continue to trend in its original direction, or a t…

Using Dynamic Lots, Atr Trailing Profit and Debugging in Vjforex 8/32
Posted 14 Apr by pipx Ranking
Strategy Atr Visualjforex Jforex Strategies Debugging Trailing Profit Dynamic Lots
Automating your trading strategy frees you from constantly monitoring the market, removes emotions from trading and grows your portfolio. The latter is possible only with proper risk management. To better understand this, consider risking 10% of your equity on each trade. When you win, you win big and when you lose, you lose big as well. This can be construed as gambling.
Starting small and increasing risk as your portfolio grows while letting profits run for as long as possible are sustainable capital management techniques. By implementing dynamic lots, you will be risking a predetermined percentage of your account and the lots only increase or decrease relative to the growth of your equity. When using a trailing profit, you will rake in more pips should the market rally in your favor.
The following is part of a large strategy, which I cannot cover in full in this article. However, the component can be successfully attached to any VJForex based strategy. Let’s get started.

Visual Jforex Strategy Building: from Idea till Implementation 9/32

Strategy Idea Programming Visual Jforex Implementation
1. Overview
It is always interesting discussion about automated trading vs. manual trading. In this article I will try to explain how trading ideas can be automated and transferred to strategies by using of visual jforex platform and how it can perform fast analysis of data.
2. Important notes
As all we know any kind of trading involves risk. There are different means to minimize such a risk. Visual jforex platform as far as I know is still in development stage and strategies developed by it are not recommended to use in real environment. If someone decides to use it in real environment he takes all associated risk related to it.
But as I mentioned every trading involves risk. And if I can minimize risk to acceptable to me levels I can use strategy in real environment. Before putting strategy to real environment I usually adhere to rules listed below:
1. Before running strategy in real environment it should be tested for considerable period of time in demo environment;
2. There should be certain places in strategy to stop it in case something goes wrongly (e.g. max. open positions amount, equity targets, use of leverage targets);
3. If strategy is developed using visual jforex str…

April 2015 Strategy 1/32

Visual Jforex Trend Strategy Multiple Time Frames

As a follow-up to my article last month, titled “trading the right view”, I want to use this article to shed some light on my April strategy, which is currently running in the April 2015 strategy contest.
Building an automated strategy or trading robot can be a very daunting task, especially if one has no previous knowledge of programming. This is where the Visual JForex strategy builder comes very handy.
It is a drag-and-drop tool that simplifies strategy creation. It is on this platform that I will explain my strategy.
Trading Idea
The first step to creating a trading robot or trading software is what I call the “Trading Idea”. This idea is the core of the strategy; it is a sum of all the market conditions you want to consider before taking a long or short position. This idea basically has the entry rules, exit rules, trading amount or volume and any other market variable you may wish to add to your to trading robot.
A trading idea is needed before the design, testing and implementation of automated trading strategy. The Trading idea behind my strategy for the month of April 2015 is to look at higher time frames for the trend direction and take positions in the direction of the t…

Bollinger Bands Strategy 3/32
Posted 8 Apr by alex19920821 Ranking
Jforex Bollinger Bands Strategy Contest Shift
Introduction
March 2015 - the first month of my participation in Dukaskopi contests. In the month the market situation in the euro-dollar was favorable to my strategy - intraday trends were clear - first big drop in the euro, then pronounced correction. Strategy ended March with a balance of $ 604,000, showing the second result. At the time of this writing strategy is leading the competition in April with a balance of $ 239,000.
The strategy is quite versatile and completely suitable only in a volatile sideways movement when the intraday sharp jumps up and down creating false signals to buy or sell and then change direction. This is trend strategy and is based on the Bolinger Bands indicator.
Bollinger Bands indicator with shift
A distinctive feature of the Bollinger Bands indicator is its variable width due to the volatility of prices. In periods of considerable price changes (i.e. of high volatility) the bands widen leaving a lot of room to the prices to move in. During standstill periods, or the periods of low volatility the band contracts keeping the prices within their limits. The following traits are particular to the Bollinger Band:

…

Segmentation and Time-of-day Pattern in Fx 2/32

Backtesting Liquidity Visual Jforex Automated Strategy Time-Of-Day Pattern Empirical Research Portfolio Balance Effects
There is no mystery that the world is full of patterns and we're governed by them and the financial market are not exception of this rule. The time element such as the time of the day could also play a big role in how certain FX pairs may behave. There is an empirical research conducted by major institutions which suggest that there are strong evidence of a predictable time-of-day pattern in FX. This research was conducted by Angelo Ranaldo from SNB.
The main idea behind this article will be to turn a simple trading pattern backed up by an extensive empirical research into an automated trading system using the Visual JForex platform.

Jforex Ema Sma Strategy Contest Macd Stochastic Oscillator
Introduction

The strategy contest to me has been one of the most challenging contest for me in the Dukascopy community because i have traded manually for the past couple of years. Though I have been a member of the Dukascopy Community for over a year now, my first month of participation was December 2014.
Monthly Analysis
I have been attempting to build a winning scalping strategy based on the EURUSD because of its high liquidity, huge market depth and low spreads. However it has not always been rosy as evidenced in the Fig1 below
Fig 1: Monthly performance on the strategy contest
From the chats in Fig 1, the following points can be noted from the performance:
 • The returns for the first three months of participation were negative whilst the March strategy, Talia13 had a positive return.
 • The January strategy resulted in the most number of positive trades at 90% of 51 trades entered

Fx Rule of Thumb: Protect Your Profits 22/48
Posted 24 Mar by BilboFX Ranking
Reversal Profit Losses Protection Rule Of Thumb
There is nothing worse than watching your trade be up with green pips for a while and see it completely reverse quickly later and take out your stop points lower.
Almost all FX traders has experienced this feeling firsthand, and if you didn't consider yourself lucky - it's a woe most traders face more often than you can imagine and is a perfect example of poor money management.
The markets can move fast, with gains turning into losses in a matter of minutes, making it critical to properly manage your capital.
One of the important rules of trading is to protect your profits - even if it means banking only few pips. Taking multiple trades with few pips at a time, that adds up to a respectable profits, this approach may seem like trading like slowly, but we must remember that the main point of trading is to minimize losses and along with that to make money as often as possible.
The most used and easiest way to not let a winner turn into a loser is to trail your stop loss level to breakeven point as soon as you have a good amount of pips (far enough from the entry point to not affect the open position by the market nose). This method can be enhanced by trailing again and again the s…

The Fed's Master Plan 8/48
Posted 23 Mar by AdrianWS Ranking
USD Fomc Fed Us Rates Volatilty
Introduction:
What is the Federal reserves plan? What is Janet Yellen thinking?
Ultimately, none of us know... We can try and predict, guess. But at the end of the day she will do what she does and we will have to react. This being said, it doesn't mean we can't have a game plan, and expect certain things.
This chart is from DBs Slok, and shows an expected route for the Fed.
Thus far, the March 6th print was strong, with Non-Farm payroll change coming in at 295k and last week we saw the word "patient" removed.
What was expected was that with "patient" removed, we should see a hike in the coming few months, and with Yellen also saying it won't be the April meeting, then we could only assume the June meeting.
Well we saw this, however it was far from the hawkish tone we were expecting, and subsequently we saw quite the move in the USD and US interest rates.
The dollar dropped an incredible 5% in just minutes.
On top of this, US 2 year yields dropped a huge 14bps
Now looking forward as per Deutsche, they expect the Fed to sit back and monitor the financial markets and data points to see whether or not there will be any irrational fears going into the 1st Hike. No so far there has bee…
